Triple Port Asymmetric Projector, high-performance lighting from an almost hidden source. Zero upward light to protect nocturnal wildlife and Dark Skies.
Asymmetric projection is projecting light across a stair or walkway from a handrail at the outer edge or edges. For safe illumination, producing a uniform light over as much of the area as possible is essential—lighting with few dark spots and reduced bright ones. An option is to install symmetrical projectors and rotate the handrail to the optimum position; this is more cost-effective, but depending on the amount of rotation, the bright LED becomes visible, creating glare against the dark background.
Triple Port Asymmetric achieves this from its installed position at the handrail's base; rotation of the lenses is within its body. An almost invisible light source with zero upward light projection creates a well-lit environment with exceptional visual comfort for humans and nocturnal wildlife, creating Dark Skies. These properties can also be found in our Quicksert Asymmetric and RAILled products; however, in this outstanding fitting, the projectors can be made at any angle from 0-60 degrees (beam centre), producing horizontal illumination with the 70-degree lens installed. Triple port Asymmetric features three times the power of our single lens alternatives, designed for higher illumination levels and broader spaces.

The Triple Port Asymmetric projector is easy to install
3wo options for the mechanical installation:
Instant Fit
Create a 20 x 109mm aperture by conventional milling or laser cutting. Make wiring connections, insert the two keys supplied into the body, insert the assembly into the aperture, and remove the keys. Our unique, tamper-proof retention system keeps Tri-Linear in place until the keys are re-inserted for removal.
Screw Retention
Create the aperture as above, but add two M5 clearance holes at 128mm centres (setting out drawing and DXF file available). Insert the retention tool into one pair of 1.5mm diameter holes and place Tri-Linear into the handrail (the tool prevents losing it in the tube). Align and retain the assembly with the two M5 screws supplied, then remove the retention tool. A range of tamper-proof security screws are available, including versions with Nyloc retention.
Wiring
The most critical element in handrail lighting installation and maintenance. Our custom wiring loom service ensures the correct cable size with the minimum volt loss. Triple Port Asymmetric handrail projectors can be hard-wired or plug-and-play, ideal for downtime-critical maintenance areas.
Designed and made in the UK
The Triple Port Asymmetric handrail projector is another fine example of UK engineering. Made from a solid billet of Aluminium, each projector aperture is machined into the body with high precision to replicate the results created in the project's photometric light simulation. The face is radiused to suit the handrail, alternatively flat for box sections and fascias. Each body is made to be 29.6 mm wide to fit a 20mm aperture, narrow enough for laser cutting into a smaller diameter tube. Precision engineering and our unique design ensure a flush fit in all diameters and wall thicknesses from 42mm.
